Why work with a Coach?

Have you ever thought about working with a coach but weren’t sure if it’s right for you, or what kind of coaching you need?

Coaching gives you the space to step back, think clearly and work through challenges in a more focused way.

Whether you’re leading a business, managing a team or navigating your next step, it helps you make better decisions and move forward confidently.

What does coaching help with

People come to coaching for different reasons, but most are facing some form of pressure, change or uncertainty. In practice, coaching helps you:

Get clear on what matters

When everything feels busy or overwhelming, it can be hard to step back and see the bigger picture. Coaching creates space to focus on what’s important and where you want to go.

Think through what matters

Whether it’s a business decision, a people challenge or a personal crossroads, coaching helps you slow down your thinking and move forward with more confidence

Build confidence and presence

Many leaders struggle with self-doubt or feeling like they need to have all the answers. Coaching helps you feel more grounded, clear and comfortable in your role.

Improve how you work with others

This might include communication, feedback, managing conflict or building stronger relationships with your team and stakeholders.

Handle pressure and change

Growth, change and uncertainty are part of most roles now. Coaching helps you respond more thoughtfully rather than reacting under pressure.

For many managers and founders, one of the biggest shifts is stepping back from delivery and focusing more on leadership. Coaching supports that transition.

Move from doing to leading

Perhaps the most valuable part. Time that is yours, without distraction or judgement, to reflect and work things through properly.

Have space to think

A coach will help you to identify and achieve goals. A business coach may work with you to identify business objectives, while an executive or leadership coach with work with you on the so called soft-skills you may want to develop such as boosting confidence, improving time-management, building better relationships or becoming a better leader.

Set goals and make decisions

What are the benefits of coaching

The impact of coaching often shows up in both how you feel and how you perform. You might notice:

  • clearer thinking and decision-making

How to choose the right coach

It’s important to find a coach that you can connect with and trust. Most Coaches offer a free initial chat - sometimes called an Exploratory or Chemistry Call, so you can get to know them before committing. Here’s what to look for:

Experience and credentials

There is no single coaching qualification or accreditation, so ask a potential coach about their training.

Look for qualifications such as ILM Level 7 certificate or accreditation with industry bodies such as the International Coaching Federation (ICF) or European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).

Experience

Coaches bring diverse experiences; their approach may be informed by business strategy, psychology, or leadership expertise, so ask about their background in business or elsehwere.

Connection and trust

Trust your instinct. Coaching is a personal process. You need to feel comfortable, listened to and able to be open.
